Overview

We partnered with Yorkshire Building Society (YBS) for 18 months, to initiate and deliver an ambitious organisational transformation programme.  YBS is the third-largest building society in the UK, serving over 3 million members.

Changing customer behaviours and the commercial drive for multi-million pound cost savings meant YBS needed to overhaul an outdated structure, starting with the senior team.

The Challenge

At the start of the programme, there was no defined approach to Organisational Design (OD) coupled with limited experience of programme managing large-scale people change. By the time we left, we needed to equip YBS with the confidence, skills, knowledge and processes to continue the programme.

Our Approach

A ‘People First’ Partnership - partnered with senior and wider teams, offering constant advice

Strong Communications – developed and delivered a robust communications framework, overlaid with a Director-led, personalised approach

Highly Skilled Team – recruited and managed a programme team to oversee multiple workstreams

Consistent Methodology - managed the transformation through our six-step delivery model

Appropriate Governance- amongst other accountabilities, led the professional review board to ensure OD proposals aligned to principles and business strategy

The Final Analysis

The programme delivered against all of the success measures.  Ultimately, we firmly believe this was down to our 'People First' partnership approach.  We supported, trained and worked alongside the YBS teams so they could successfully continue the programme when we left.
